Just HR is seeking an experienced and motivated LR professional to join our client as a Labour Relations Specialist. Reporting to the Manager, Labour Relations, this role will be responsible for working closely with our leaders by providing labour relations support and expertise. Standard schedule of work is Monday to Friday from 7:30am to 4:30pm, with occasional business requirement to work outside of standard hours for scheduled investigations. Compensation includes: base salary, bonus, health benefits and pension contributions. The LR Specialist will be required to adhere to all health and safety requirements including wearing PPE and frequently entering manufacturing settings.


Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic advice and subject matter expertise on labour relations.
  • Lead and facilitate workplace investigations that have varying levels of difficulty and sensitivity, related to themes of code of conduct, performance management and harassment/workplace violence.
  • Provide recommendations to leaders to correct behaviours using performance management tools.
  • Provide strategic advice to leaders on the interpretation of the collective bargaining agreement, policies and procedures.
  • Facilitate the grievance process including research, interpretation of alleged violation(s), developing responses and organizing documentation for issues that need to be progressed.
  • Draft, develop and edit various documentations related to the scope of labour relations and human resources.
  • Work with leaders with identifying and preparing to pursue strategic issues and to develop arguments to defend the Company's position.
  • Assist with negotiating collective agreement and related documentations.
  • Facilitate reasonable cause and post-incident Alcohol & Drug Testing, using 3rd party providers.
  • Research industry trends related to labour relations climate.
  • Support any other activities that advances the Labour Relations strategy.


Requirements:

  • Post-secondary education in Labour Relations, Human Resources, Business Administration and/or related field.
  • Minimum 2 - 3 years of demonstrated Labour Relations experience in industrial/manufacturing work setting.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and facilitating workplace investigations.
  • Experience in working with and advising leaders with solid judgement and sense of initiative.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and communications skills, verbal and written.
  • Ability to “seek to understand” and asking the right questions to find the true source of conflict.
  • Eager to learn and take on new challenges as they become available.

Remuneration:

$100K - $110K. Candidates with in-depth union investigations in a manufacturing setting and 3+ years experience may receive a higher compensation.
