Horizon Recruitment has been engaged to identify a Senior Manager, Market Development - Americas for our client’s global market development team. Reporting to the Director, Global Market Development this position will be the key strategic member of our clients’ efforts to advance their fuel products as low carbon alternative in the marine sector. Working on a high-performance team of 10 specialized experts the Senior Manager will help our client advance their presence in the Americas region.   • Develop and implement the Americas Market Development strategy and business plan working closely with Director.
  • Lead, motivate and develop team members in regions to achieve goals. 
  • Partner with key strategic stakeholders to create demand.
  • Directly influences industry partners, government and policy makers in Americas region to adopt new marine fuels. 
  • Act as the primary point of contact for all market development initiatives in the region with external and internal stakeholders.
  • Formation and leadership of industry coalitions and multidisciplinary project teams including related industries such as ship owners, OEMs – ship engines, automobile industry, customers, government, fleet operators, green fuel producers and other key stakeholders.
  • Works at an executive level with energy industry stakeholders to develop and execute joint strategies that capitalize on opportunities to grow and protect demand.
  • Conducts comprehensive -political, technical and economic analysis of applications and filters out high growth opportunities.
  • Directly influence industry direction via participation in trade associations, including the Methanol Institute as appropriate. 
  • Raise overall awareness of products and establish regulatory frameworks that support commercial introduction of green alternatives. 
  • Commercial project analysis development and responsible for connecting regions on driving proposal development for supply at the commercialization phase. 
  • Identify, recommend and plan company participation in key industry events to ensure a strong presence as a leader in the industry to drive new demand growth in EMEA.


  • Commercial/Technical University Degree (MBA a preferred)
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in commercially focused roles, preferably with prior experience in the shipping or bunkering industry.
  • Strong negotiations, commercial management and mathematical capability
  • Must have the presence to lead through influence at the Director level and above.
  • In depth knowledge of the fuels industry and how this connects with the global energy industry
  • Deep understanding of the dynamics of a global commodity business that influences supply/demand and price.
  • High levels of proficiency with MS Excel and PowerPoint
