Horizon Recruitment is conducting a search for an Indigenous Consultation Adviser for one of our large Vancouver based clients. This position will be working on key projects that will see substantial operations continue for an extended term. Working in the Lower Mainland, the Indigenous Consultation Adviser will consult with stakeholders from a variety of operations and will require substantial experience dealing with Lower Mainland Indigenous groups.
Description:
- Consult on Indigenous relations in relation to projects
- Advise on environmental assessments and economic viability
- Become a pivot point between contractors and Indigenous groups
- Monitor legislation and policies as projects evolve
- Track and record all consultation activities as it pertains to the project and communities involved
- Managing Indigenous approved vendors
- Review and manage various contracts
- Assist procurement team on processes and procedures dealing with Indigenous approved vendors
- Implement activities to encourage Indigenous engagement
- Inform Indigenous groups of business initiatives and align the project with their interests to encourage buy-in from each group
- Prepare notes, letters, and all other necessary material
Requirements:
- University degree in Law, communications, or Supply Chain (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
- Demonstrated experience working on different types of contracts
- An SCMP designation would be considered an asset (or equivalent combination of designation plus experience)
- 5+ years progressive experience in Indigenous relations and contracts related roles
- Excellent interpersonal skills, communications and negotiations experience
- Proven ability to manage contracts for large scale projects
