Horizon Recruitment is conducting an immediate search for a Global Supplier Quality Engineering Specialist for one of their clients based in Kitchener, Waterloo. Reporting to the Manager, Quality Assurance and Global Supplier Quality, you will be responsible to ensure the assigned suppliers' quality in products meets the requirements, as well as, leading supply quality reviews and improvements. You will also be responsible to direct supply management, manufacturing, design engineering toward continuous quality improvements. To be successful, you will need to communicate effectively the requests between all stakeholders and follow through the entire process to close identified gaps. 


Duties:

·      Responsible for ensuring the assigned supplier’s quality in products meet the requirements

·      Leading supply chain quality reviews and improvements

·      Leading and directing supply management, manufacturing and design engineering for continuous improvements

·      Effective communication for all requests between stakeholders throughout the process to close any identified gaps

·      Overall gap analysis related to product quality and improvement


Experience:

·      Bachelors’ Degree in Mechanical Engineering

  • 5-10 years’ experience in a hi-tech production environment in supporting design, development, manufacturing and supplier quality activities
  • In depth knowledge of component design and fabrication methods of machined and cast (die cast, investment cast, sand cast, permanent mold, etc.) metal parts
  • Strong knowledge of sheet metal component design and fabrication methods and processes
  • In depth knowledge of plastic injection molding principles
  • Preferred Professional Designations – CQE, CQM, ASQC accreditation, IS09001 training, 6 Sigma, SPC, process control methodologies
  • Experience with GD&T (ASME Y14.5) would be an asset
  • Strong negotiating skills
  • Strong leadership and people management skills
  • Strong communication skills (handle objections, coaching, conflict resolution)
  • Strong and proven verbal and written communication skills (detail-oriented)
  • Strong project management skills (prioritization, scheduling, etc.)
  • Understanding of overall process requirements
  • Demonstrated experience working with Design Engineering, Continuation Engineering, Quality Engineering, Production and Suppliers to provide components and assemblies that meet or exceed specified requirements
  • Business software applications proficiency (ERP/MRP, Word, Excel, Document Management, etc.)
  • Ability to quickly weigh all options and make logical decisions for the business, while adhering to policy and procedures
