Horizon Recruitment has been retained by our advanced technology client to identify a Controller who will lead the overall accounting and finance team. This senior executive role reports directly to the CFO and will play an important role in the ongoing growth of this global business.

Our client has a reliable business model that has enabled them to lead their specialized niche for over 4 decades. As a publicly traded company with complex international operations the Controller will have an engaging and interesting breadth of responsibility that

will include financial reporting, systems implementations and optimization. FP&A, change management, transfer pricing, revenue recognition and input into potential M&A activity. The Controller will also provide coaching and leadership to the team while providing strategic input to operational executives.



  • Guide preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements and management’s discussion and analysis;
  • Review of Management Information Circular and Annual Information Form;
  • Responsible for all accounting reporting including monthly, quarterly and annual management reporting package;
  • Oversee accounting, financial and tax reporting of foreign operations;
  • Prepare reports and interpret financial results for management decision‐making;
  • Ongoing review of changes to and compliance with IFRS standards;
  • Managing treasury function including all forms of disbursements, corporate credit cards, and foreign exchange transactions;
  • Determine cash requirements and maintain appropriate cash flow with banking institutions;
  • Analyze financial records to forecast future financial position and budget requirements;
  • Work with internal teams on developing and monitoring business performance metrics;
  • Review of corporate tax returns and all its subsidiaries;
  • Tax planning for foreign operations;
  • Prepare/coordinate preparation of annual insurance coverage and recommend revisions;
  • Assessing accounting operations, offering recommendations for improvement and implementing new processes and system efficiencies;
  • Liaise with auditors and other external parties, as applicable; 


  • CPA designation with 5+ years of experience in external reporting and public accounting;
  • Comprehensive understanding of accounting standards and general understanding of  corporate tax;
  • Strong leadership, analytical and communication skills;
  • Self‐motivated with strong work ethic and demonstrating integrity and trust;
  • Highly proficient with Word and Excel and an understanding of accounting software;
  • Experience with Tier 1 ERP would be considered an asset;
  • Accuracy and strong attention to detail;
  • Strong time management skills with ability to meet deadlines, prioritize tasks and adjust to changing priorities;
  • Ability to work effectively across various teams and levels
