Horizon Recruitment Inc. is conducting a search for a Controller, North America to join our large, multinational client that is in the early stages of modernizing and improving the way they do things. While you will be responsible for leading a team to ensure that all accounting matters are attended to for the assigned divisions, this is an exciting opportunity for a process minded leader to step in and really make an impact on the business.


Description:

  • Oversee accounting systems and controls to ensure the accuracy and timeliness of financial information
  • Responsible for month-end and year-end close of financial statements, reporting packages, account reconciliations and GL analysis
  • Provide managers with analysis, reports and advice on financial activities that will enable them to better manage operations
  • Ensure compliance with corporate and government policies, procedures, and regulations
  • Assist in maintaining and developing internal financial policies, operating procedures, and controls
  • Assess current accounting operations, offering recommendations for improvement and implementing new processes
  • Support finance department initiatives, such as software and systems implementations, departmental improvements with research, planning and implementation as required
  • Coordinate the annual external audit process
  • Supervise, motivate, and develop staff
  • Oversee preparation of annual budgets


Requirements:

  • CPA designation with 8-10+ years of experience in a global, multicurrency environment
  • Ability to manage tasks in an environment of competing priorities and deadlines
  • Strong influence management skills with a continuous improvement mindset.
  • A team player who is collaborative and receptive to ideas from others and works effectively across functions to identify and resolve critical issues.
  • Proven ability to work well under pressure and maintain a positive, enthusiastic attitude.
  • A creative, yet pragmatic, problem solver who is hands-on as well as detail oriented.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic and changing environment
  • Excellent skills in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
