Horizon Recruitment is working with a technology company with operations around the world to find their next Assistant Controller. Our client has been consistently recognized as a great place to work. There is a specific growth plan for this person as the team evolves over the next few years. This person will oversee a small team and be responsible for producing timely and accurate financial results and analysis.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end processes including preparing/reviewing various working papers, reconciliations and monthly reporting packages.
  • Analyze financial statement accounts and comment on variances.
  • Plan and coordinate the preparation of fiscal year-end financial statements with external accountants.
  • Assist in cash management processes, including cash flow projections.
  • Oversee sales and commodity tax compliance.
  • Oversee payroll processing for Canada and the US, and be able to act as backup.
  • Manage and oversee the accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
  • Support the Controller in maintaining the Company’s global accounting policies, practices, and controls for compliance with IFRS and accounting best practices.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities and propose execution plans.
  • Supervise, mentor and train accounting staff.


Qualifications:

  • 5 (Five)+ years of experience in a related position with 2+ in leadership
  • CPA designation
  • Extensive knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles.
  • Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports
  • Ability to motivate teams to produce quality materials within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage several projects
  • Sound technical skills, analytical ability, good judgement, strong operational focus and a creative thinker
  • Well organized and self-directed with high integrity, honest, and articulate
  • Demonstrate a “lead by example” approach as well as possess strong communication skills
