Horizon Recruitment has an excellent opportunity to join a shipping company on the verge of a large growth spurt. They are now looking to build an in-house accounting department that is currently outsourced. The Accountant will be responsible for full cycle accounting, payroll for a small team, and ad hoc analysis. As the company gears up for growth, this person will also help with processes that will help them grow sustainably.
Responsibilities:
- Full-cycle accounting process including the preparation of journal entries, bank recs, and GL recs
- Prepare accurate payroll, various filings, and payables that are paid on time, every time
- Prepare monthly and quarterly financial reports requested by senior leadership
- Prepare monthly and quarterly budget vs. actual reporting with variance analysis
- Help identify new initiatives and make recommendations to improve systems and processes
- Prepare working papers for tax reporting and assist in corporate tax audits
- Assist external auditors as part of the year end audit
Requirements:
- Having or working towards an accounting designation (CPA, CA, CGA, CMA)
- 4+ years of experience working in a small to mid-sized organization where you have had to wear many hats
- Ability to analyze complex business situations, summarize key issues, and make practical recommendations
- Excellent analytical skills and applies a creative approach to problem solving
- Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills
- Fluency in Mandarin is an asset
Remuneration:
- $70,000-$80,000
