Horizon Recruitment is conducting the search for a Technical Buyer to join a growing manufacturing operation in Alberta. This role supports a dynamic, multi-location production environment by ensuring timely procurement of project-related materials and equipment.

Reporting to the Regional Supply Chain Manager, the Technical Buyer plays a key role in keeping manufacturing and engineering teams on schedule by managing vendor relationships and solving procurement challenges.

Responsibilities

• Purchase equipment, components, and materials to support production and project needs
• Expedite long-lead items to meet evolving manufacturing timelines
• Collaborate closely with Sales, Engineering, and Manufacturing to adjust to shifting priorities
• Interpret technical drawings to accurately source required parts and materials
• Evaluate vendor performance, including delivery timelines and quality metrics
• Identify and resolve quality or supply issues that could impact projects
• Negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules with key suppliers
• Develop and maintain project purchasing reports
• Source new or alternate vendors to improve cost, quality, or delivery
• Maintain ERP and purchasing records with high accuracy

Requirements

• 4+ years of procurement experience in a manufacturing or technical environment
• Strong technical aptitude and comfort working with engineers and technical documents
• Proven ability to create reports and analyze large volumes of data
• Highly organized with strong attention to detail
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong Excel skills and experience with ERP or MRP systems
• Able to manage multiple tasks under pressure with minimal supervision

Remuneration

$75,000-$85,000 base salary
