Horizon Recruitment is conducting the search for a Technical Buyer to join a growing manufacturing operation in Alberta. This role supports a dynamic, multi-location production environment by ensuring timely procurement of project-related materials and equipment.
Reporting to the Regional Supply Chain Manager, the Technical Buyer plays a key role in keeping manufacturing and engineering teams on schedule by managing vendor relationships and solving procurement challenges.
Responsibilities
- Purchase equipment, components, and materials to support production and project needs
- Expedite long-lead items to meet evolving manufacturing timelines
- Collaborate closely with Sales, Engineering, and Manufacturing to adjust to shifting priorities
- Interpret technical drawings to accurately source required parts and materials
- Evaluate vendor performance, including delivery timelines and quality metrics
- Identify and resolve quality or supply issues that could impact projects
- Negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules with key suppliers
- Develop and maintain project purchasing reports
- Source new or alternate vendors to improve cost, quality, or delivery
- Maintain ERP and purchasing records with high accuracy
Requirements
- 4+ years of procurement experience in a manufacturing or technical environment
- Strong technical aptitude and comfort working with engineers and technical documents
- Proven ability to create reports and analyze large volumes of data
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong Excel skills and experience with ERP or MRP systems
- Able to manage multiple tasks under pressure with minimal supervision
Remuneration
$75,000-$85,000 base salary
