Horizon Recruitment is recruiting for a Senior Accountant to support a well-established non-profit organization during a critical time. This is a contract position ideal for someone who enjoys rolling up their sleeves and taking ownership of core accounting processes. Your work will help ensure timely payments, accurate revenue tracking, and smooth payroll operations that directly support meaningful community programs.

Responsibilities

• Take full ownership of accounts payable and accounts receivable processes
• Review bi-weekly payroll for accuracy and compliance
• Support month-end close with reconciliations and reporting
• Liaise with program managers to ensure proper expense coding and approvals
• Prepare journal entries and maintain general ledger accuracy
• Assist with financial reporting for internal stakeholders and funding partners
• Help maintain audit-ready documentation and respond to auditor requests

Requirements

• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Strong working knowledge of AP, AR, and payroll review
• Comfortable working independently and managing deadlines
• Experience in a non-profit or government-funded environment is an asset
• CPA designation is an asset but not required
• Proficiency with accounting software and Excel

Remuneration

$40 - $50/hr
