Horizon Recruitment  is recruiting for a  Senior Accountant, Financial Reporting  to join a dynamic finance team driving transformation and operational excellence. This role offers the opportunity to contribute directly to the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting processes while helping streamline operations and support business growth. You’ll work cross-functionally to solve complex accounting challenges, lead cleanup initiatives, and provide insights that enhance decision-making and compliance in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

Responsibilities:

• Drive financial cleanup projects by resolving aged balances, reviewing accruals, and ensuring accurate reconciliations of historical accounts.
• Analyze financial workflows end-to-end, identifying inefficiencies and implementing process improvements.
• Partner with operations and cross-functional teams to investigate and resolve legacy accounting issues.
• Review and assess journal entries, working papers, and account reconciliations for completeness, accuracy, and adherence to policies.
• Support month-end and quarter-end close cycles to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
• Contribute to finance transformation initiatives by leveraging technology and best practices to optimize reporting processes.
• Assist in the preparation and review of financial statements for non-public entities and, where required, SEC filings.
• Provide mentorship and training to junior finance staff to build team capability.
• Proactively identify risks and develop solutions to strengthen internal controls and enhance business performance.
• Perform ad hoc analysis and special projects to support strategic financial initiatives.

Requirements:

• CPA designation or equivalent with strong technical accounting knowledge.
• Proven experience in financial reporting, reconciliations, and operational finance within complex organizations.
• Solid understanding of IFRS and/or US GAAP; exposure to SEC reporting considered an asset.
• Demonstrated ability to lead financial cleanup initiatives and resolve legacy accounting issues.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for process optimization.
• Proficiency with financial systems (e.g., NetSuite or similar ERP platforms).
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills for working across teams and disciplines.
• Ability to manage priorities and deadlines in a dynamic, high-performance environment.
• Experience in mentoring or training junior finance professionals is an asset.
• Availability for occasional overtime to meet critical deadlines.

Remuneration:

• Competitive salary range of $95,000 – $110,000 CAD per annum, commensurate with experience, plus a comprehensive benefits package.
