Horizon Recruitment is recruiting for an experienced Property Accounting Manager to oversee a property accounting team supporting a diverse real estate portfolio. This leadership role is responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong operational support, and consistent delivery of accounting services to internal stakeholders and clients. The successful candidate will also play an important role in staff development, process improvement, and maintaining high standards across the accounting function.
Responsibilities:
- Lead, mentor, and support a team of property accounting professionals
- Oversee day-to-day accounting operations across a portfolio of commercial and residential properties
- Ensure accurate and timely completion of month-end and year-end accounting activities
- Review financial reporting, reconciliations, budgeting, and forecasting processes
- Monitor team workloads, deadlines, and overall quality of deliverables
- Provide guidance and support on accounting issues, processes, and client requests
- Collaborate with operational teams and stakeholders to ensure responsive service and strong communication
- Support annual audits, recoveries, and other recurring financial processes
- Assist with onboarding, training, and ongoing development of accounting staff
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reporting quality, and internal processes
- Participate in special projects and operational initiatives as required
- Support property transitions, acquisitions, or dispositions from an accounting perspective
- Help maintain a positive and collaborative team environment
Requirements:
- CPA designation preferred, or equivalent experience in property accounting
- Several years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibilities
- Background in real estate, property management, or related industries preferred
- Strong understanding of financial reporting, budgeting, and accounting processes
- Proven ability to lead teams, manage priorities, and meet deadlines
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Effective problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and general Microsoft Office proficiency
- Experience with property management or ERP systems considered an asset
- Ability to work in a fast-moving and evolving environment
- Criminal record check required
Remuneration:
$110,000 - $125,000 Base + 15% Bonus
