Horizon Recruitment is recruiting for a Payroll Administrator to support accurate, timely, and compliant payroll operations across the organization. This role will help ensure employees are paid correctly, payroll records remain accurate, and payroll-related questions are resolved efficiently. The position is remote, with a preference for candidates in Calgary, Alberta. Candidates across Canada will be considered if they can work Mountain Time business hours.
Responsibilities:
- Support the full payroll cycle, from gross-to-net calculations and employee payments through payroll journals and final processing.
- Prepare payroll worksheets for new hires, terminations, leaves, adjustments, and other employee changes.
- Review payroll and timekeeping information to identify, investigate, and resolve discrepancies.
- Process and review timecards, including labour charge-out requirements.
- Use Workday Payroll and Workday Time Tracking to support accurate payroll processing.
- Monitor daily HR audit reports and complete required employee, timecard, and schedule updates.
- Support Employee Self-Service (ESS) and Manager Self-Service (MSS) processes.
- Maintain accurate payroll records and documentation for audits and compliance.
- Partner with HR and Benefits teams to resolve employee pay-related matters.
- Manage payroll inquiries and the payroll inbox, providing timely and professional support.
- Protect employee information and follow Canadian privacy legislation and internal policies.
- Stay current on applicable payroll legislation, regulatory changes, and union requirements.
- Contribute to cross-training and knowledge sharing within the payroll team.
- Support process improvements and effective use of digital tools within payroll operations.
Requirements:
- Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation through the National Payroll Institute, or equivalent. Mandatory.
- 3-5 years of payroll experience, including full-cycle payroll administration.
- Hands-on experience with both Workday Payroll and Workday Time Tracking.
- Strong understanding of payroll systems, including functionality, design, and capabilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- High attention to detail and a strong focus on accuracy.
- Basic understanding of payroll accounting principles.
- Comfortable using digital tools to support payroll processes.
- Team-oriented approach with a willingness to cross-train and share knowledge.
- Ability to handle confidential employee information with discretion.
- Available to work Mountain Time business hours.
Remuneration:
- $45/hr - $60/hr
