JUST HR is recruiting for a highly capable HR Manager to build and lead the people function for a growing industrial manufacturing organization. This role has been elevated to support business expansion, the integration of operations across multiple jurisdictions, and the development of scalable people practices that support long-term growth. As the sole HR leader, you will serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership while creating the structure, processes, and programs needed to support employees and managers across the business.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all human resources activities across the organization.
- Develop, implement, and maintain HR policies, programs, and employee handbook materials.
- Ensure employment practices comply with applicable legislation in British Columbia, Ontario, and U.S. operations.
- Act as the primary advisor to leaders on employee relations, performance management, workplace issues, and HR best practices.
- Coach managers on leadership, documentation, employee development, and difficult workplace conversations.
- Oversee recruitment activities from sourcing and interviewing through offer management and onboarding.
- Design and improve onboarding programs to support employee success during their first 90 days.
- Maintain HR records, employment agreements, reporting, and documentation requirements.
- Track and analyze HR metrics including turnover, headcount, attendance, and training completion.
- Support compensation reviews, market benchmarking, and employee recognition initiatives.
- Coordinate training and development programs while maintaining required records.
- Partner with leadership on organizational growth, change management, and business integration initiatives.
- Manage relationships with external advisors and legal counsel when specialized expertise is required.
- Support employee engagement initiatives that strengthen culture, retention, and workplace experience.
Requirements
- 7+ years of progressive HR experience.
- Experience serving as the primary HR resource or HR leader within an organization.
- Strong knowledge of British Columbia employment legislation.
- Working knowledge of Ontario employment standards.
- Experience supporting U.S. employment practices; Texas experience is considered an asset.
- Demonstrated success building or improving HR programs, processes, and infrastructure.
- Experience supporting organizational growth, integration, acquisitions, or significant change initiatives.
- Strong employee relations and performance management expertise.
- Proven ability to coach and influence managers and senior leaders.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and relationship-building skills.
- Post-secondary education in Human Resources or a related discipline.
- CPHR designation is considered an asset.
- Ability to work primarily on-site and travel occasionally within Canada as required.
Remuneration
- Base salary: $115,000 - $120,000
