Just HR is recruiting for a Human Resources Business Partner to support a large, complex operations team within a unionized manufacturing environment. This role exists to align people strategy with operational goals, helping leaders improve performance, strengthen labour relations, and build a high-performing, engaged workforce. The HRBP acts as a trusted advisor, ensuring that workforce planning, employee relations, and HR programs directly support productivity, safety, and long-term business success.
Responsibilities
- Partner with operational leaders to turn business goals into practical people strategies
- Build strong relationships with leaders, employees, and union representatives
- Support performance management through coaching, feedback, and development planning
- Lead workplace investigations, disciplinary actions, and conflict resolution
- Provide guidance on employment law, collective agreements, and HR policies
- Collaborate with HR specialists across talent, compensation, and learning to deliver integrated solutions
- Support attendance and absence management programs with a focus on consistency and compliance
- Analyze workforce data to identify trends and recommend improvements
- Address attendance concerns through coaching and progressive discipline
- Work with disability and wellness teams to support return-to-work programs and accommodations
- Promote proactive labour relations using clear communication and problem-solving approaches
- Support change initiatives by helping leaders manage people impacts effectively
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field
- 5+ years of progressive HR experience, including at least 2 years in a unionized environment
- Experience as an HR Business Partner or senior HR generalist supporting operations
- Strong background in employee relations, investigations, and performance management
- Knowledge of BC employment legislation and labour relations practices
- Ability to build trust and influence stakeholders at all levels
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Experience interpreting collective agreements and HR policies
- Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team
- High level of discretion when handling sensitive information
- Strong organizational and analytical skills
- CPHR designation is an asset
- Experience in manufacturing, construction, or similar environments is preferred
Remuneration
Salary range: $100,000 - $120,000, plus bonus and pension matching. Comprehensive benefits package including extended health, dental, vision, wellness support, and paid leave programs.
