JUST HR is recruiting for an HR Business Partner to support a growing industrial operation in northern BC. This newly created role is designed to bring dedicated HR leadership directly to the site operations, providing hands-on support to operational leadership and employees rather than managing people matters remotely.
The successful candidate will help strengthen workplace culture, support operational growth, and build trusted relationships across a diverse workforce in a highly operational environment. This role is ideal for someone who brings practical HR experience, sound judgment, and credibility in industrial, construction, or project-based settings.
Responsibilities
- Act as the primary on-site HR resource for employees and leaders across multiple operational groups
- Build trusted relationships with employees, supervisors, and leadership teams
- Provide guidance on employee relations matters including performance management, workplace conflict, conduct issues, and terminations
- Support a positive, accountable, and respectful workplace culture
- Partner with operational leaders on workforce planning and staffing needs
- Coordinate recruitment activities and support hiring processes for the Kitimat operation
- Ensure hiring documentation and approvals are organized and aligned with company standards
- Support onboarding and consistent HR practices across the site
- Strengthen relationships with local Indigenous communities and support Indigenous employment initiatives
- Act as a culturally aware liaison between operations and community stakeholders
- Ensure HR policies and employment practices are applied consistently across the operation
- Monitor workforce engagement and proactively identify potential employee concerns
- Provide ongoing communication and updates to senior HR leadership while operating independently on day-to-day site matters
Requirements
- 5+ years of progressive HR experience in industrial, construction, resource, or heavy operations environments
- Proven experience handling employee relations, recruitment, and workforce planning
- Comfortable working in direct, operational, and technical workplace cultures
- Strong communication skills with the ability to build credibility and trust quickly
- Experience supporting remote, project-based, or field operations is considered an asset
- Understanding of Indigenous community engagement and culturally respectful workplace practices
- Strong judgment and ability to balance business needs with employee support
- Ability to work independently and partner effectively with operational leadership
- CPHR designation or related education is considered an asset
- Preference for candidates already located in the Kitimat or Terrace region, or those committed to relocating
Remuneration
- Salary range: $90,000 - $130,000
