Horizon Recruitment Inc. is currently seeking a Fleet and Logistics Manager to join our client’s supply chain and distribution team. Reporting to the Director of Distribution, this role will lead all aspects of fleet logistics, routing, driver performance, and freight cost optimization. You will play a key role in ensuring efficient and timely delivery between customers, while upholding safety, compliance, and customer service standards.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee maintenance and regulatory compliance for all trucks and trailers, including seasonal tire changes, CVI scheduling, and daily driver inspections
- Plan and optimize delivery routes, monitor driver hours and electronic logs, and respond to route changes due to traffic, weather, or absenteeism
- Book ferry schedules and ensure compliance with Hours of Service regulations
- Lead all accident and incident reporting processes and liaise with OH&S
- Track freight spend and run annual RFQs for common carriers to control costs
- Monitor and report on key logistics KPIs, including cost per KM, damages, missed shipments, and late deliveries
- Collaborate with finance and operations to forecast and submit capital expenditures for fleet and equipment
- Ensure proper driver and equipment support across satellite distribution centers to meet service levels
- Hire, train, coach, and evaluate logistics team members; manage scheduling and performance
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and proactively report hazards or unsafe practices
- Maintain knowledge of dangerous goods, packaging protocols, and transportation regulations
- Submit weekly updates and monthly performance reports to the Director of Distribution
- Conduct monthly safety and performance team meetings
- Lead annual performance reviews for drivers and staff
Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in logistics, routing, and shipping management
- Certified in TDG (Transportation of Dangerous Goods)
- Strong knowledge of CVSE and CVI regulations
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, with solid math and analytical skills
- Strong understanding of SDS, WHMIS, TDG, and health & safety compliance
- Strategic thinker with the ability to organize, multitask, and problem-solve in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with experience managing cross-functional teams
