Horizon Recruitment is working with a well-capitalized, growth-focused mining company preparing to transition from private to public markets. With a newly acquired and fully permitted asset in a proven mineral district, the company is entering an exciting new chapter - moving from acquisition into active development. Backed by strong leadership and a healthy balance sheet, the organization is building out its core finance team to support operational readiness, public company compliance, and long-term value creation. This is a unique opportunity to join a company at the ground level of its next phase and directly influence its financial infrastructure, reporting integrity, and strategic execution.


Reporting to a highly experienced and proven CFO, the Director, Finance will be the lead architect of the company’s financial reporting function. This role will oversee all external reporting, including MD&A preparation, regulatory filings, and board-level financial presentation materials. With two direct reports, Assistant Controller and a supporting Accountant, this leader will ensure the company meets evolving compliance requirements while maintaining high reporting standards as it approaches public listing and operational ramp-up.


Responsibilities

  • Lead preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements, MD&A, and associated regulatory filings
  • Support the CFO in preparing board and investor-facing financial reporting and presentations
  • Develop and manage internal financial reporting processes, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and clarity
  • Oversee the Assistant Controller and Accountant to ensure strong month-end close, reconciliations, and audit readiness
  • Coordinate with external auditors and legal advisors to meet audit and disclosure requirements
  • Assist with implementing scalable financial controls and systems aligned with public company expectations
  • Partner with the CFO to assess financial risks, ensure regulatory compliance, and support capital markets readiness
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives related to reporting automation, data integrity, and process efficiency
  • Support budgeting activities and other special projects as required

Requirements

  • CPA designation with 8+ years of progressive experience in accounting and financial reporting
  • Strong understanding of IFRS and public company reporting standards
  • Experience preparing MD&A and board-level financial materials
  • Background in mining, natural resources, or asset-intensive sectors preferred
  • Proven ability to lead small teams and manage multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex financial information clearly to senior stakeholders
  • Prior experience in a company undergoing a private-to-public transition or IPO readiness is a strong asset
  • High level of ownership, accountability, and professional maturity

Remuneration

  • Salary: $150,000–$170,000 base
  • Performance bonus potential
