Assistant Warehouse Manager - Afternoons

Horizon Recruitment is conducting a search for an Assistant Warehouse Manager to support the afternoon shift in a large-scale retail distribution operation. This is an opportunity to join a fast-paced, growing organization, overseeing the afternoon warehouse operations, managing the teams responsible for receiving, picking, and shipping. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership, operational insight, and a continuous improvement mindset to help optimize performance across all warehouse functions.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and coach warehouse teams in afternoon operations, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and safety across all processes.
  • Manage and develop team leads overseeing receiving, picking, and shipping to ensure daily targets and service standards are met.
  • Establish and monitor KPIs to improve accuracy, productivity, and on-time delivery.
  • Implement and maintain best practices for warehouse organization, layout, and space utilization.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance throughput, workflow, and overall performance.
  • Maintain inventory accuracy and coordinate daily, weekly, and monthly audits.
  • Collaborate with purchasing, logistics, and IT teams to resolve operational issues and support system enhancements.
  • Ensure all outgoing orders are processed accurately and shipped within delivery schedules.
  • Prepare and present monthly operational reports summarizing key metrics, staffing updates, and improvement plans.
  • Enforce safety standards and compliance with all workplace regulations.
  • Oversee facility closing procedures, ensuring all equipment, documentation, and security checks are completed before shift end.

 

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in warehouse or distribution management, preferably in a large, multi-shift environment.
  • Diploma or degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Strong understanding of warehouse systems, inventory control, and performance metrics.
  • Proven ability to lead and motivate teams, implement improvements, and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office and warehouse management systems (WMS).
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

 

Remuneration:

  • $80,000 – $90,000
