As they prepare to restart operations and scale their financial reporting capacity, they are adding key talent to strengthen internal controls, improve reporting efficiency, and ensure readiness for public company requirements. This Assistant Controller role is a rare opportunity to join a senior team early in its development and contribute to a high-impact financial function under experienced leadership.
Reporting to the Director, Finance, the Assistant Controller will play a critical hands-on role in financial reporting, month-end close, audit preparation, and the development of scalable accounting processes. This role is ideal for a CPA-designated professional who thrives in a dynamic environment and is eager to take on broad responsibilities in a lean, high-performing finance team. You’ll work closely with both the Director and the CFO to build a solid foundation for reporting, controls, and operational finance as the company transitions to public markets.
Responsibilities
- Support preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with IFRS
- Assist in drafting and organizing supporting materials for MD&A and regulatory filings
- Manage month-end and quarter-end close processes, including journal entries and reconciliations
- Prepare audit schedules and work directly with external auditors during annual audits and reviews
- Maintain the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and consistency across financial systems
- Support implementation of improved internal controls, financial reporting tools, and accounting policies
- Contribute to budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow reporting as required
- Participate in special projects tied to operational readiness and public listing preparation
Requirements
- CPA designation (or in final stages) with 4–6 years of relevant accounting experience
- Strong working knowledge of IFRS and public company reporting practices
- Experience in mining, natural resources, or asset-heavy industries preferred
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced setting
- Strong Excel and general ledger system skills (experience with QuickBooks, Sage, or NetSuite an asset)
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, reliable work
- Strong communication and collaboration skills—able to work effectively with cross-functional teams
- Eagerness to grow with the business and take on increasing responsibility over time
Remuneration
- Salary: $100,000–$115,000 base
- Annual performance bonus
