Assistant Controller

Horizon Recruitment Inc. is supporting a growing and innovative organization in their search for an experienced Assistant Controller to join their finance team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a CPA-designated professional with a strong background in financial reporting, consolidations, and corporate accounting. The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys a mix of hands-on work, technical challenges, and exposure to global operations.


This is a full-time, permanent role offering competitive compensation, excellent benefits, and the chance to work on complex, interesting system projects in a collaborative team environment.


Responsibilities:

  • Prepare quarterly and annual financial statements, MD&A, and executive-level reporting packages
  • Lead financial reporting for foreign operations and global consolidations
  • Support the month-end close process and financial analysis
  • Assist with technical accounting research and documentation, including IFRS updates and complex issues
  • Coordinate external audits and prepare supporting working papers, including those for international subsidiaries
  • Participate in M&A activities, including due diligence and business combination accounting
  • Oversee equity-based compensation reporting and regulatory filings
  • Maintain and test internal controls, policies, and procedures
  • Help automate and improve accounting processes and reporting systems
  • Cross-train across finance functions and support special projects as needed

Requirements:

  • CPA designation required
  • 5–10 years of accounting and financial reporting experience
  • Public practice background considered an asset but not required
  • Strong technical knowledge of IFRS and multi-entity consolidations
  • Experience with equity-based compensation, M&A accounting, and internal controls
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, global environment
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office tools
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills
  • Experience with multi-currency environments is an asset

Rewards:

  • $115,000 - $130,000 Base + Bonus
