Horizon Recruitment is recruiting for an Accounting Supervisor to support a dynamic, mission-driven organization focused on expanding access to education across British Columbia. This role plays a critical part in maintaining financial integrity, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting strategic planning. Reporting to the Controller, the Accounting Supervisor will oversee core accounting functions and contribute to key financial processes that support both daily operations and long-term goals.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise the accounts payable, receivable, deposit, and financial reporting functions
- Manage bi-weekly payroll processing, including issuing ROEs and T4s
- Oversee GL accounts, subledgers, and main ledger maintenance
- Prepare complex bank reconciliations, accruals, and account reconciliations
- Ensure accurate submission of PST, GST, and other statutory returns
- Support financial statement preparation and contribute to the annual audit
- Assist with compiling the T3010 charity return and grant reconciliation
- Prepare month-end and year-end working papers and financial forecasts
- Review and approve invoices; audit transactions including expense claims
- Maintain financial systems and recommend improvements
- Provide coverage and support for the Controller as needed
Requirements:
- 4th year CPA student with a degree in Business Administration or Finance
- Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience in accounting or finance
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Sage 300
- Familiarity with CRA and Service Canada portals
- Experience with payroll software and reporting requirements
- Excellent communication skills and high attention to detail
- Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities independently
Remuneration:
- $70,000 - $80,000
