Horizon Recruitment is currently seeking Senior Internal Auditors for opportunities in Calgary and across Alberta. With future positions at the intermediate and senior levels, we welcome all candidates who may be interested in learning more about the various opportunities to apply.

You will be responsible for identifying areas of weakness and implementing solutions to minimize risk and maximize efficiency.

Responsibilities:

  • Assessment, review, and advisory for operational and financial risk across multiple locations and entities within the group
  • Develop audit and implementation plans based on results and prepare reports for review by senior management
  • Drive continuous improvement in the audit function (IFRS, SOX)
  • Visit site operations to conduct reviews and audits and perform gap analysis where there are inadequate controls
  • Develop enhanced policies and procedures for the organization 
  • Educate and support operational staff through internal controls implementations

Requirements:

  • Recognized accounting designation (CPA)
  • Working towards or successful completion of an advanced professional audit certification (CIA, CFE, CISA)
  • 5+ years of audit experience ideally with a combination of public practice and industry experience
  • Experience with corporate governance regulations and IFRS
  • Proven ability to develop and manage audit plans across multiple locations
  • Experience in business process documentation, analysis, and implementation
  • Experience with IT and systems audits and fraud investigations would be great to have but not required
  • Comfort dealing with senior executives and possession of excellent communication skills
  • Ability to quickly adapt to changing environments and requirements
  • Travel in across North America could be approximately 10 - 20%
