Horizon Recruitment has an immediate need for a Senior Tax Analyst - US Tax. This position can be located remotely anywhere in North America.

 

Reporting to the General Manager, Tax, the Sr. US Tax Analyst is responsible for tax compliance and tax accounting for the US operations within the organization. The US Tax Analyst will become a key member of the Company’s tax department. The role will provide the successful candidate with a great opportunity to learn and use their US tax expertise within a growing, highly driven, geographically dispersed company.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Tax Compliance and Tax Reporting – Preparation of all U.S. tax compliance which includes but is not limited to:
  • Prepare tax working papers, tax analyses and gather of information for U.S. federal and state income tax returns and forms
  • Prepare U.S tax extensions and coordinate payments to tax authorities
  • Refine and improve data collection processes supporting tax returns
  • Assist with the preparation of responses to federal and state income tax audits
  • Correspond with various U.S. tax authorities
  • Work with third party tax advisors in relation to the above mentioned duties and responsibilities
  • Assist in the preparation of the consolidated tax provision and tax disclosures for external financial statement purposes:
  • Reconciliation of income tax accounts
  • Play a key role in the implementation of process improvement opportunities to increase efficiency in tax processes
  • Other ad-hoc research and analytics as required for US operations
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned by the General Manager, Tax

 

Qualifications



  • 7+ years of experience in preparing U.S. corporate income tax returns
  • U.S. CPA designation an asset
  • Experience in preparing tax provisions and knowledge of accounting standards relating to accounting for income taxes under IFRS
  • Experience dealing with tax authorities
  • Ability to research and comprehend tax regulations and communicate findings
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing in a clear and straight forward manner
  • Great team player with the ability to anticipate and proactively resolve issues
  • Experience preparing returns using Thompson Reuters OneSource/GoSystem U.S. tax compliance software is preferred
  • Advanced skills utilizing Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel
  • Experience in SAP Business One an asset
  • Experience with Canadian income tax compliance an asset
