Horizon Recruitment Inc has been engaged to identify a Senior Internal Auditor for a leading manufacturer and distribution company with operations across North America. This position provides a great career opportunity for an out-of-the-box thinker with a proven ability to identify and implement internal controls and process improvements in a large and growing organization. You will be responsible for identifying areas of weakness and implementing solutions to minimize risk and maximize efficiency.

Responsibilities:

  • Assessment, review and advisory for operational and financial risk across multiple locations and entities within the group
  • Develop audit and implementation plans based on results and prepare reports for review by senior management
  • Drive continuous improvement in the audit function (IFRS, SOX)
  • Visit site operations to conduct reviews and audits and perform gap analysis where there are inadequate controls
  • Develop enhanced policies and procedures for the organization 
  • Educate and support operational staff through internal controls implementations

Requirements:

  • Recognized accounting designation (CPA, CA, CGA, CMA)
  • Working towards or successful completion of an advanced professional audit certification (CIA, CFE, CISA)
  • 5+ years of audit experience ideally with a combination of public practice and industry experience
  • Experience with corporate governance regulations and IFRS
  • Proven ability to develop and manage audit plans across multiple locations
  • Experience in business process documentation, analysis and implementation
  • Experience with IT and systems audits and fraud investigations would be great to have but not required
  • Comfort dealing with senior executives and possession of excellent communication skills
  • Ability to quickly adapt to changing environments and requirements
  • Travel in Western Canada and North-Western USA would be approximately 20-30%
