Horizon Recruitment is currently seeking Senior Accountants for opportunities in Calgary and across Alberta. With future positions at the intermediate and senior levels, we welcome all candidates who may be interested in learning more about the various opportunities to apply.

The Senior Accountant will prepare analysis, ensure revenues and expenses are recorded accurately and work with management to identify areas for improvement in reporting and operations. This role is also responsible for supporting the business by providing an analysis of the actual results compared to previous periods. 

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the accurate and timely recording of transactions in the general ledger 
  • Prepare & coordinate business unit requests and support schedules
  • Liaise with the business unit to manage month-end closing
  • Prepare and analyze consolidated financial statements for internal and external reporting purposes
  • Prepare and review the standard and non-recurring journal entries
  • Reconcile various balance sheet accounts
  • Provide balance sheet flux commentary on reconciled accounts
  • Intercompany accounting and reconciliation
  • Cash flow forecasting
  • Assist in annual planning and monthly forecasting

Requirements:

  • Completion of an accounting designation (CPA)
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS or US GAAP
  • Ability and initiative to take on challenges and deliver results
  • A team-oriented work approach with the ability to organize team workload 
  • Ability to organize and prioritize a demanding workload
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Must be able to demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills 
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills & aptitude for finance systems
