Horizon Recruitment has been engaged to recruit a smart, motivated Senior Accountant to work with the CFO of our client in the information technology sector. Our client is a professional services firm with operations across Canada a great brand, strong leadership, and an entrepreneurial spirit. The Senior Accountant will oversee the work of the AP/AR team, ensure reporting deadlines are hit, oversee payroll, control costs, assist with process improvements and identify opportunities to streamline processes. This is an exceptional opportunity to contribute to a tight knit team and move up to a Controller role once proven. Responsibilities:
- manage period end reporting and assist in the preparation of financials
- assist with cashflow reporting and banking
- oversee payroll for a group of internal employees and external consultants
- act as an escalation point for team members with questions or queries related to accounting treatments ensuring accuracy of all reporting
- review and reassess processes to streamline efficiencies
- voice opportunities to implement continuous improvement
Requirements:
- CPA designation (or close to completion) highly preferable
- Strong communication skills and high emotional intelligence
- Customer service approach to support internal and external stakeholders
- Strong user experience with QuickBooks, Power BI, Excel and Access
