Horizon Recruitment Inc. is seeking an experienced Procurement Manager for a rapidly growing manufacturing organization based in the Fraser Valley of British Columbia. This is an incredible opportunity with a company that is experiencing unprecedented growth in a business within an international market. The Procurement Manager will be a part of a team that will drive significant process and procedural improvements as the company moves into a new phase of its evolution. The Procurement Manager will be the lead negotiator who will manage a portfolio of vendors, covering major equipment, project materials, and operational supplies in a large project-based environment. You will lead the procurement planning and strategy for the portfolio and will require strong organization and communication skills.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Preparing a negotiation strategy that creates leverage and ultimately, savings
  • Executing contract negotiations with suppliers delivering cost savings to our clients
  • Following up with suppliers deliver positive outcomes
  • Setting up agreements with suppliers
  • Analyze, recommend, and manage cost improvement strategies through product, vendor, and design changes
  • Good understanding of specific commodities pricing trends (such as steel, electronics)
  • Evaluate and propose Make vs Buy decision making
  • Manage the supply base including Vendor Performance Tracking, Supplier Qualifications, etc.


Requirements:

  • 8-10 years of progressive experience leading supply chain cost savings initiatives
  • Quick thinking, high energy and high amount of drive/hustle
  • Strong negotiating skills; proven results in past experience
  • Strong leadership skills with track record of leading and managing successful team(s)
  • Ability to have difficult and uncomfortable conversations, and can hold their ground
  • Strong contracts experience, experience with Mechanical / Machined parts and understanding of mechanical drawings a plus.
  • They are highly proficient with Excel
