Horizon Recruitment Inc. is working with an exciting business in the cannabis space to identify a Manager, Cost Accounting and Analysis. Our client is an industry leader with a stronghold in the market and is looking to bring someone in to develop the costing function of the organization. We are looking for someone who can come up with creative solutions to complex problems in a new and growing industry.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and improve costing processes and pricing strategies from the ground up (pun intended!)
  • Analyze and communicate the financial impact of manufacturing operations across the organization and provide improvements in the areas of inventory, costing, and reporting
  • Add value to the business through decision support initiatives 
  • Build relationships and translate financial information to provide financial perspective to operations and to help with process improvements and recommendations
  • Contribute to month-end and year-end financial statements and analyze variances and the impact of changes to costs
  • Assist with the maintenance and revision of complex costing models and COGS
  • Leadership mentality and the ability to educate and create buy-in related to costs and labour on the manufacturing floor
  • Hire, train, supervise and develop a growing costing department

Requirements

  • A professional accounting designation (CPA, CGA, CMA, CA), combined with 4+ years of accounting experience in a manufacturing environment - agriculture experience is a plus.
  • Hands on ability for cost accounting and analysis coupled with ability to manage and train a team
  • Strong analysis experience with a focus on creative and alternative costing solutions
  • Strong communication skills and ability to build relationships between accounting and manufacturing 
  • Leadership qualities and ability to educate operational team on financial impact of their actions.
