Horizon Recruitment Inc. is currently in search for a Junior Accountant to help support a local food manufacturing client who has built as strong brand presence in the Vancouver community. This position will be responsible for maintaining timely, accurate, and relevant financial, vendor, and employee information in support of the objectives of the Strategic Plan.
Responsibilities:
- Prepares monthly and year-end bank and financial reconciliations, journal entries, as well as other ad-hoc reports and reconciliations, as required.
- Processes Accounts Payable timely and accurately, ensuring proper approval is provided.
- Maintains the accuracy of electronic and paper Vendor files.
- Processes Accounts Receivable timely and accurately, ensuring Customer accounts are kept current and within credit limits.
- Ensures all Finance related statutory remittances and compliance filings are submitted on time.
- Maintains the internal financial control framework, informing the team of any deficiencies identified.
- Liaises with ERP system support contacts to resolve issues.
- Develops and maintains standard operating procedures related to the Junior Accountant role.
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary diploma in Accounting/Payroll/Business Administration, a degree in Business Administration or Commerce would be an asset.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a junior to mid-level Accounting/Finance position.
- Understanding of relevant payroll, labor, GST, BC PST, WCB and corporate taxation requirements and laws.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office programs, particularly Word, Excel, and Access.
- Working knowledge of ERP software applications.
