Horizon Recruitment Inc. has been engaged in a search for a newly created Director, Financial Planning & Analysis position. This person will be responsible for establishing and building the FP&A function for our large financial services client. Reporting to the VP, Finance, this person will oversee all aspects of the financial planning and analysis function. The two will collaborate closely to provide strategic financial insight and leadership to drive business performance and ensure alignment with the company's long-term objectives. This role will be instrumental in assisting the Finance leadership team in financial decision-making, identifying growth opportunities, and mitigating risks. The Director, FP&A will combine strong business acumen with compelling, data-informed storytelling to influence and guide the company’s financial trajectory.


Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development and refining of the company’s strategic vision, financial goals, and measurable objectives.
  • Build and manage relationships with key stakeholders, including investors, board members, and external partners.
  • Lead the preparation of financial and non-financial metrics and other executive deliverables to stakeholders monthly, quarterly, and as required on an ad-hoc basis.
  • Identify and report risks and opportunities across the business based on data-driven insights.
  • Collaborate with business partners to define and track financial and operational KPIs.
  • Lead the development of the annual budget and quarterly forecasts, as well as the preparation of the monthly / quarterly / annual variance analysis to be reported back to executive team and business units.
  • Utilize a deep understanding of the business to guide data-informed forecasting and financial decisions and provide compelling narratives that convey the implications of financial data to stakeholders.
  • Partner closely with senior leaders to work cross-functionally, acting as a trusted advisor, providing quantitative / qualitative analysis and strategic recommendations to drive better decision-making across the whole organization.
  • Develop business cases to evaluate new product / feature opportunities and measure their financial performance.
  • Proactively identify and drive improvements to current financial systems, processes, reports and models by leveraging financial data, non-financial data, external benchmarks, automation and prior industry experiences.
  • Actively participate in and / or lead cross-functional initiatives including (but not limited to): system implementations, process improvements, training, and thought leadership.

Requirements:

  • 5-10+ years overall experience with 5+ years in a senior finance leadership role within a financial services-based organization combined with either a CPA, CFA or MBA.
  • Proven expertise in the developing and managing of annual budgets, forecasts, and complex multi-year financial models.
  • Possess executive-level communication abilities, including reporting, presentations, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Strategic prowess and the confidence to make decisions and recommendations.
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving capabilities with superior attention to detail; advanced financial modeling skills and ability to impose structure and logic in ambiguous situations.
  • A passion for solving challenging and impactful problems; getting into the weeds by understanding the how and why of business processes.
  • Extensive experience partnering with senior leaders both in a Finance and cross-functional capacity.
  • A curious nature: if something seems off, take immediate action to figure out what’s going on.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and willingness to work in collaboration with various team members; confidence to express views.
  • Effective writing and presentation skills; ability to communicate complex ideas in a simple and easy-to-understand way for both financial and non-financial audiences at the highest levels in the organization.
  • Confidence to embrace new ways of doing things, including automating functions, finding scalable solutions, and driving continuous improvement.

Rewards:

  • $150K - $170K + Bonus
