Our client is a privately-owned energy services company serving oil & gas producers throughout Canada and the US. They are seeking an experienced Controller to oversee a small accounting team responsible for thefull-cycle accounting, with a particular focus on accurate and timely financial reporting, analysis and forecasting to support business decisions at the operational and corporate level.
Role & Responsibilities:
- Oversee monthly, quarterly and annual full cycle accounting process, including review of working papers
- Preparing year-end consolidated financial statements and notes
- Monitoring budgets and providing project updates, including preparing monthly internal management reports and daily operational reports
- Liaising with external audit team and assisting with queries
- Ownership of the credit and collection policy with a focus on collection of overdue accounts
- Reviewing and approval of weekly cash projections
- Assessing and implementing operational and accounting policies and procedures from both a governance and operational perspective
- Preparing weekly operational reports for management
- Project cost analysis and recommendations
- Managing, coaching and mentoring accounting staff
- Ensuring communication is regular, accurate, informative and reaches the right people fostering a corporate culture that drives performance and promotes ethical practices and encourages integrity and social responsibility
Qualifications:
- Chartered Professional Accountant designation with minimum of 7 years post-designation experience
- A positive, proactive communicator, someone who is organized, results-oriented and deadline-driven, some who is also good at managing workloads appropriately
- A change agent who can help to bring fun to the company
- Someone with a passion for providing accurate and timely financial data, who is interested in growing with the Company and can be a positive cultural change agent
- Someone who easily instills confidence and creates strong productive relationships quickly with every area of the company, from Operations to Human Resources
- High business acumen and the ability to multi-task and prioritize
- High emotional intelligence, someone who knows when to be collaborative and when to be prescriptive
