Horizon Recruitment is currently seeking a Commodity Manager for one of our clients in Kitchener, Ontario. The Commodity Manager will be responsible for strategic sourcing of goods and services required. The successful candidate will lead a cross-functional team for sourcing and supplier qualification including conducting commercial and financial audits.
Development and implementation of a global commodity strategy is a key element of this role. This person will be responsible for ensuring that the right supply base is selected for their assigned commodity while achieving aggressive cost reduction targets and creating risk mitigation plans.
Responsibilities:
- Global sourcing
- Negotiating global contract pricing
- Supply agreement contract negotiations
- Commercial and financial supplier analysis
- Risk mitigation planning
- Development and implementation of global commodity strategies
- Contribution to supply chain strategy for NPI
- Supplier relationship management
- Supplier development
- Holding quarterly business reviews with strategic suppliers
- Resolving long term or chronic quality or supply issues
- Maintaining commodity part knowledge, global supplier knowledge, market knowledge
- Identifying new opportunities and innovation
- Development of effective relationships with divisional teams to ensure that Supply Chain Management is fully involved with new business opportunities
- Driving continuous improvement through trend analysis and metrics management
Requirements:
- Post-secondary degree/diploma in Supply Chain Management or related field
- CPP, CPIM, CSCP would be considered an asset
- 5-10 years of Commodity Management or related Supply Chain experience
- 3+ years in high-tech manufacturing environment
- Working with contract manufacturing
- Experience with optical components, systems, processes, and supply chain is an asset
- Ability and willingness to travel both nationally and internationally, as required.
