Horizon Recruitment has been engaged to conduct the search for an experienced Commercial Manager for one of our rapidly growing BC based clients. The commercial manager will be responsible for commercial functions relating to a portfolio of capital projects and must have the ability to operate and manage in a high paced environment with both client proposal and vendor procurement interaction.


Responsibilities:

  • Management of the commercial functions for the project portfolio.
  • Provide commercial and contractual advice to project Executives, sales teams and Vendor management teams.
  • Identify process gaps and implement improvements in operational efficiencies across the commercial group
  • Identify and mitigate project and contractual risks. 
  • Commercial reporting and analysis of financial position of the project.
  • Effectively manage multiple contracting priorities in a timely manner to meet the internal and external project needs.
  • Monitors subcontractor performance against work package requirements or agreed schedule milestones; identifies deficiencies and takes corrective action to ensure project deliverables are not negatively impacted.
  • Ensures suppliers and service providers meet agreed quality and regulatory requirements in order to complete project on time, within budget and in compliance with set standards from clients.


Requirements:

  • Quantity Surveying background is highly desired; MRICS, FRICS or AssocRICS.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering related field and/or equivalent combination of education and demonstrated field experience.
  • Minimum of 10 years commercial and contractual management experience on civil construction projects.
  • Understands the intent of contractual language and is able to represent and defend the company's position.
  • Able to provide project strategy, and support to project delivery staff.
  • Proven experience in a high paced construction environment
  • Experience working with all aspects and departments on a construction site – engineering, safety, environment, quality, cost control, change management
  • Excellent leadership and people skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and is able to present at the executive level.
  • Proven experience representing project within a sales proposal & presentation environment
