Horizon Recruitment is conducting the search for an experienced Buyer to work for a major Canadian consumer in Toronto, Ontario. As a Buyer, you will work closely with the MRO buyers, Plant Sourcing Leads and support procurement operations, the leadership team, and key stakeholders on competitive cost sourcing initiatives of MRO spend categories. This role requires efficient and accurate processing and documentation of transactions, with the overall goal of minimizing the total cost of transactions without impacting service levels.

A snap shot of some of the exciting things you will lead and do:

  • Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to create and implement strategic sourcing strategies as well as day to day operational affairs
  • Provide leadership and expertise in a variety of areas including category strategy support and development, RFX development and oversight and vendor negotiations
  • Develop and execute source plans for key spend categories
  • Run transparent RFX / Auctions
  • Participate in contract negotiations with key vendors
  • Lead cross-functional project teams to execute sourcing initiatives
  • Manage constructive supplier relationships for assigned categories
  • Meet annual cost reduction targets in assigned categories
  • Facilitate bids, analysis, and negotiations for goods and services
  • Manage the day-to-day business relationship with key suppliers through supporting activities including ordering, communication of demand/ volume/ delivery time changes, issue resolution, sharing of end-user feedback, follow up on backorders, etc.
  • Develop a strong understanding and knowledge of suppliers and capabilities
  • Assist with contract development and execution
  • Manage supplier relationships to ensure continuity of good and services that meet the quality, service, and price-performance standards of the company
  • Identifying, prioritizing and impacting key business opportunities
  • Working with stakeholders and leadership teams to implement and enforce policies that increase spend visibility and compliance
  • Works closely with Finance teams to expedite receiving and AP processes
