Horizon Recruitment is working with a large, home-grown Vancouver company to find a new Accounting Manager who will oversee the very high-volume Accounts Payable function. This will also involve working through tight deadlines, accounting for multiple companies and a variety of accounting activities including general ledger transactions, financial reporting, inventory valuation, year-end audit working paper preparation, and the support of budget and forecasting activities. This is a great opportunity to flex your leadership skills as you manage a large team through 3-4 direct reports.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Developing and maintain processes and procedures that ensure accurate, meaningful financial reporting in accordance with applicable accounting standards. 
  • Protect and maintain confidentiality of all financial and operational information.
  • Ensure that work within the Accounts Payable team is properly allocated, monitored and completed in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure within related operational systems. 
  • Preparation of schedules and reconciliations in support of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statement preparation. 
  • Collaborates with the other finance department managers to support overall department goals and objectives.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, or related field and CPA designation
  • 3+ years relevant work experience in similar role
  • Demonstrated experience leading a Finance function ideally in the distribution sectors
  • Knowledge of budgeting and forecasting techniques as well as proficiency with financial statement analysis and projection.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to lead and engage team members to reach a common goal.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with a diverse group of people.
