Accounting Assistant - AR

Horizon Recruitment is conducting a search for an Accounting Assistant for a large manufacturing company with geographically dispersed operations. Our client is an ever growing player in their industry and offers an excellent opportunity for a career oriented accountant with a "can do" attitude. While the role will be focused on accounts receivable, this person will be expected to assist the accounting team with period end tasks.

Description:

• Prepares deposit slips and processes customer payments in different ERP systems
• Reconciles customer statements, liaises with customers to investigate and resolve discrepancies
• Ensures customer deductions are duly authorized by plant and sales personnel before processing
• Generates detail and summary customer aging reports, follows up on past due amounts and immediately notifies the assistant controller on delinquent accounts.
• Perform bank reconciliations
• Post journal entries and update schedules

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Accounting

• Enrollment in the CPA program is an asset

• Minimum of 2 years experience in an AR role

• Intermediate to advanced working knowledge of Excel

• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate clearly

• Familiarity with JD Edwards package is an asset
